About the artist.

Camille Pinkerton is a New York based oil painter creating surreal art. She studied classical drawing and painting from life at Grand Central Atelier. Her mentors include Milt Kobayashi, Lucas Bononi, Ricky Mujica, Jacob Collins, and Max Ginsburg.

She was born in 1999 in Austin Texas. Her father is an inventor and her mother was a news reporter. She was labeled a craft dervish; often drawing portraits, weaving potholders, and creating messes.

Her art life began when she visited Shoal Creek Gallery in 2018 where she saw Milt Kobayashi’s paintings. Pursuing art never entered her consciousness because, like most people, the museums bored her and she didn’t want to be broke. When she saw his work it was the first time she saw paintings she loved and felt connected to. This was the seed of creativity that caused her to pursue art in New York City.

She won a car, sold it, dropped out of school and moved to New York within a year. There she sought out mentorship from Ricky Mujica at the Art Students League which was recommended to her by her recent pen pal Milt kobayashi. Eventually she ended up at Grand Central Atelier where she completed the program in 2023. She now lives and works in Brooklyn.
